Hammond Joins New Albany Football Coaching Staff

NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) — Former Tupelo head football coach Trent Hammond has joined the New Albany staff as defensive coordinator.

Hammond joins the staff of former assistant Cody Stubblefield, who was offensive coordinator in Tupelo for two seasons before taking over in New Albany in 2018.

The Bulldogs went 8-4 in 2019, the first time the program reached the 8-win mark since 2012. Last year, New Albany won its first playoff game since that 2012 season.

Hammond spent eight seasons as the head coach of the Golden Wave, winning the 2013 North Half Championship and division titles in 2016 and 2017.
