Hot and Humid Labor Day
COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — If you’ve got some outdoor plans for your Labor Day today, be sure to grab a water bottle and maybe a mini fan, as it will be hot and muggy out there.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny skies and slightly elevated dew points will keep us feeling hot for your Labor Day today. The high temperature will be around 97°, with heat index values up to around 105°. Winds are out of the north at 5 mph. There is a threat for severe storms in southern portions of Mississippi and along the Gulf Coast. However, we’re not expecting any rain or storms in our area for today.
MONDAY NIGHT: Skies will be partly cloudy, with an overnight low temperature of 74°. It will be a bit windy outside, with gusts of up to 20 mph. Sustained winds will be out of the northeast at 5 to 10 mph, shifting more southeasterly after midnight.
TUESDAY: Tomorrow’s high temperature will be around 95°, and it will feel a little cooler as well (but certainly not *cool*), with a peak heat index of 101°. While skies will be mostly sunny, especially in the morning, there is a 20% chance for isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms expected to move through in the later afternoon and early evening hours.
