PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI) —“Personally, I think to me that I won’t be satisfied until I have that trophy in my hand. Other than that, it’s all good,” said senior offensive and defensive lineman Arlareous Berry.

The Pontotoc Warriors enter the new season hungry. After losing to the eventual state champions in the playoffs, the Warriors expect nothing less than to make another post season run.

“I’ve been lucky the past 3 years since I’ve been here to be going pretty far in the playoffs. This year I want to finish it off. We want to go ahead and get as far as we can and hopefully come out on top,” said Berry.

“It just brought us together saying like we got to be better,” said senior wide receiver and defensive back Caleb Hobson. “We got to put in our part. We got to come together as a

“Seniors have been so close so many times especially some of the guys that’s been out there playing and starting the few years they’ve been with us,” said head coach Jeff Carter. “They’ve been so close that I think they want to get to another level so their work ethic shows that.”team. Once we do that, it should be easy to do it against them.”

The Warriors look to replace its starting backfield as well as duo at cornerback. But this is a program that continuously finds ways to fill key spots.

“We got people stepping up at different positions. Quarterbacks coming in that haven’t played at all and they’re showing that they want to be on the field and help us prosper through the year,” said Hobson.

“We got guys back there that can still handle the football. I think they’ll be able to take up the slack. These guys, you’ll be amazed at what young people can do,” said Carter.

That talent will be put through the ringer as Pontotoc prepares for a strong district.

“It’s going to be a tough one. It always is. But it’s fun. It’s fun to go against teams like Shannon and Itawamba every year. Then we got a couple new ones. It’s going to be different because I’m used to playing certain teams every year but it’s going to be a good one. I hope we can just win as many as we can,” said Berry.

“It’s never an easy game in this region. I say it’s one of the toughest ones. That’s what makes it all fun about it. Nothing comes easy with us,” said Hobson.
