BELDEN, Miss. (WCBI) — More than 100 middle schoolers and high school students spent their day guiding robots through various challenges.

ICC’s Belden Campus hosted the annual “Vex Robotics Competition.” Students built their own robots from VEX kits, then they competed against each other in matches.

The competition lets the students test their engineering and programming skills and it also exposes them to ICC’s career technical programs.

“These students are our future engineers, they are our future employees, our future supervisors, really our future,” said Scott Blackley, ICC. “You will see a really dedicated, cooperative group of students in there, they solve their own problems, which as a former principal is very refreshing to see.”

Winners from this competition advance to the state meet next year.
