Inmate serving time at CMCF dies in Jackson hospital

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – An inmate serving time at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility died Tuesday night at a Jackson hospital.

Grayland Cox, 62, died at Merit Health Central.

Foul play is not suspected in Cox’s death. His body is being sent for an autopsy to determine his official cause of death.

Cox was serving six years for selling cocaine (enhanced penalty) in Marshall County. He was sentenced in November of 2017.

More than 20 MDOC inmates have died since January.
