Investigation underway after vehicle found in Columbus Lock & Dam

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Columbus police are investigating after they say a woman allegedly drove into the water with her toddler in the backseat.

Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton says it happened at the Columbus Lock and Dam late Friday night into Saturday morning.

The woman and the child were both rescued from the water.

At this time it’s unclear why the woman may have driven into the water.

Police say the woman could face charges.
