MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- Monroe County deputies made two more arrests in a bogus check cashing scam, which could involve at least dozen people.

Xzavious Ford, 25, and Nichelle Hill, 29, both of Aberdeen, were charged with Forgery.

Three men were arrested Wednesday in the same investigation.

Sheriff Cecil Cantrell said a suspect is paying random people hundreds of dollars to cash a check.

The man then drives away with his cut of the money, which is more than a grand.

There is also a bogus phone number on the checks, which tells the businesses that the checks are good.

Cantrell believes at least 12 checks were cashed by 12 different people.

Only 5 have been charged with forgery so far in the investigation.

Deputies say the price tag for this scam is close to $90,000.

More arrests are expected.
