Itawamba County Man Heading To Prison For Killing Child

ITAWAMBA COUNTY (WCBI) – It took more than 9 years but an Itawamba County man is going to prison for the 2008 death of his four month old daughter.

Judge Thomas Gardner this morning sentenced Joshua Clark to the maximum 40 year term  for the death.  The sentencing ends a long complicated legal journey.  Clark originally pleaded guilty to depraved heart murder in 2010 but that plea was vacated on appeal because of questioning of the use of the term Shaken Baby Syndrome when the phrase abusive head trauma was a better description.  An Itawamba jury then convicted Clark of murder in the commission of child abuse in August 2016 but sentencing did nit take pklace until today while Clark unsuccessfully sought to have that verdict reversed.
