Jail Time In Dog Beating Case

COTTONDALE, Ala. (AP) – A Tuscaloosa County man has pleaded guilty to beating a weeks-old puppy to death.

Tuscaloosa News (http://bit.ly/2cbWLQv ) reports that 53-year-old Sebron Lee Channell Jr. was sentenced to four months in jail after pleading guilty to animal cruelty on Wednesday.

Authorities say Channell killed the dog and threw its body in the woods near his home in Cottondale on June 28. A Tuscaloosa County deputy found the remains and Channell was charged with animal cruelty on July 7.

The charge violated Channell’s probation in a 2013 domestic violence charge.

Channell pleaded guilty to an animal cruelty charge on Wednesday and was sentenced to 120 days in the Tuscaloosa County jail and eight months’ probation on a suspended sentence of two years.
