Lieutenant Governor candidate stops by Fairview Elementary

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Among the guests at Fairview Elementary’s celebration was Lieutenant Governor candidate Jay Hughes.

Though Democrat on the ballot, Hughes claims to be a representative for both Republican and Democratic parties.

A key part of Hughes’ campaign platform is public education, as well as infrastructure and mental health care.

“I think the more that we put education as the number one thing in Mississippi that everything else will follow and take its proper place in moving forward. It’s pretty neat to know that people are ready for a person and not a party, and I’m hearing it every day and every county,” said Hughes.

So far, Hughes is the only declared candidate for the Lieutenant Governor race.
