‘Maroon Alert’: Reported stabbing on campus; Suspect in custody

MISSISSIPPI STATE, Miss. (WCBI) – Police at Mississippi State University are investigating a stabbing on the Starkville Campus.

The university sent out a “Maroon Alert” just before 4 p.m. with reports of a stabbing incident in or near Herbert Hall.

MSU Chief Communications Officer Sid Salter said an MSU employee was injured in a stabbing in a car.

Moments later, university officials reported that police had a suspect in custody. The victim’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The area had been cleared. And the maroon alert had been lifted.
