Video: Mayor Recaps Sturgis Rally
STURGIS, Miss. (WCBI) — The Rally in Sturgis is over, but plans are already underway for next year’s event.
This is the third year the small town has held the motorcycle rally, after taking a three-year hiatus.
Organizers believe they had a good turnout, judging by the number of participants this year.
“It’s the third year of the rebuilding, and it’s coming back strong,” said Mayor Walter Turner. “I was happy to see the turnout, even with the rain. We had a lot of people who couldn’t make it, like from Louisiana, who we are sorry for their situation, but the comeback is looking good.”
Turner says it’ll be a couple of weeks before he knows how many bikers came out this year.
The next rally will be held the third weekend in August.
