MILLPORT, Ala. (WCBI)—Some west Alabama residents go to the polls tomorrow in municipal elections.

The campaign trail for Millport mayoral candidates is nearing the finish line.

Stan Allred is challenging current Mayor Icie Wriley.

The two have spent about five weeks discussing the issues, talking to residents and encouraging people to get out and vote.

Both candidates say building the town is a top priority.

Mayoral candidate Stan Allred says,”There are four concerns that they have; that being the paving of the streets, the water rates the over all appearance of the town as well as the lack of recreation facilities and as mayor I promise to use everything in my power to find solutions for these problems.”

Millport Mayor Icie Wriley says,”There is several projects we’re kinda in the middle of and I’d like to see them finished like this plant here they’re making expansion. We’re adding 50 plus jobs and then there are some more things in the works.”

There will also be municipal elections in Aliceville, Carrollton, Gordo, and Reform.

Polls will open Tuesday at seven am and close at seven pm.
