MDOT announces weight restriction for Calhoun County bridge

CALHOUN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A routine inspection on a bridge on State Road 9 in Calhoun County caused officials to decide to post a reduced weight limit.

MDOT bridge inspectors found deterioration on several of the bridges steel girders.

The reduced weight limit is for the public’s safety when traveling and to preserve the bridge’s structure so it can remain open.

The posted weight restriction to Bridge No. 40.9 on State Route 9 in Calhoun County has been restricted to the following:

• 19 tons for H Trucks
• 25 tons for HS Short Trucks
• 29 tons for HS Long Trucks

Signs are in place to alert motorists of the load restriction.
