Video: Mississippi Given Money to Help Fight Zika
JACKSON, Miss. (AP)-Money is on the way to Mississippi to help fight the zika virus.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is giving the state $400,000.
With the funds, Mississippi will be able to carry out population-based monitoring, make infrastructure improvements, and provide health and social resources to infants and families.
The money will also help families affected by the virus.
Zika is a mosquito born infection that can cause birth defects among pregnant women.
So far this year 11 cases have been reported in Mississippi.
