OXFORD, Miss. (AP) – A man has been arrested and accused of sending letters with suspected ricin (RY’-sin) poison to President Barack Obama and Republican Sen. Roger Wicker of Mississippi.

The FBI says 45-year-old Paul Kevin Curtis was taken into custody this afternoon at his apartment in Corinth, Miss., near the Tennessee state line about 100 miles east of Memphis.

Daniel McMullen, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the FBI in Mississippi, stated that Curtis was arrested at his residence in Corinth, Mississippi, following an investigation conducted by the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Forces, Memphis and Jackson Divisions, the United States Capitol Police, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and the United States Secret Service, aided by the following state and local agencies: Mississippi National Guard 47th Civil Support Team; Mississippi Office of Homeland Security; Lee County, MS Sheriff’s Office; Prentiss County, MS Sheriff’s Office; Corinth, MS Police Department; Booneville, MS Police Department; and the Tupelo, MS Police Department.
