Mississippi State Auditor Called For National Guard Duty

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – State Auditor Stacey Pickering is being called to active duty in the Mississippi Air National Guard.

Auditor’s office spokeswoman Kelley Ryan says Tuesday that Pickering will be deployed within the next week to a military base in Nevada in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Ryan says Pickering will remain in touch with employees at the auditor’s office and will continue to be in charge of the agency.

Pickering is chaplain of the 253rd Air Support Squadron.

Ryan says it was not immediately clear when Pickering would return.
