Mississippi Supreme Court Justice stepping down

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – Retiring Mississippi Supreme Court Chief Justice Bill Waller Jr. says he’s considering running for governor, but leaning against throwing his hat in the ring.

The long-time judge says it’s time for someone else to take on his role.

Waller is stepping down January 31.

Waller believes his successes were pay raises for judges, an expansion of drug courts and a growing electronic record system.

One of his biggest regrets is not getting a statewide system of county courts.
