Monroe County Sheriff’s Office celebrates Life Skills graduation

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office held their Life Skills graduation Tuesday morning for 13 male inmates.

These men received a certificate for going through a 12-week program hosted by Families First where they learned about building character as well as making better decisions in their life.

They even celebrated with pizza.

Sheriff Cecil Cantrell said he is so proud of the way these men have applied themselves and been receptive throughout these past few weeks.

“While they’re here I mean it’s they’re taking an opportunity to learn these things because when they get back out on the streets you know they’re going to be looking for jobs they’re going to be trying to rebuild their lives. This just gives them some more tools to put in their toolbox that they can bring out and use and take what they learn here and apply and their lives when they do get out of jail,” said Sheriff Cantrell.

Sheriff Cantrell said the goal of this program is to help these inmates become a better citizen so that when they are released from jail, they will know how to rebuild their life in a positive manner.
