Second year head coach Lynn Moore has resigned as head coach of the Mantachie High School football team and will be the new Itawamba County athletic director, according to the Daily Journal’s Brandon Speck.

Moore was hired at Mantachie back in January of 2012 and served as head coach for the Mustangs the past two seasons. He guided MHS to a 14-11 record in his two years at the school. He also served as head coach at Aberdeen, Itawamba AHS, Louisville and West Point.

This season, Moore guided Mantachie to the school’s first playoff win since 1998 as they defeated Strayhorn 41-14. In the process, the win over Strayhorn gave the Mustangs the team’s 9th victory, which ties the school record for most wins in a season.

Moore will be succeeded by defensive coordinator T.J. Seago as head coach. Deago guided the Mustang defense to holding three of five division opponents to 14 points or less this season.
