More details released in Golden Triangle high-speed chase

GOLDEN TRIANGLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A South Carolina man faces several charges after leading deputies on a high-speed chase through the Golden Triangle Thursday.

Gary Gilstrap, 36, of Greenville, South Carolina was charged with Felony Fleeing and Eluding and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.

He also has several traffic violations.

He remains in the Lowndes County jail.

There is a warrant for Gilstrap’s arrest in South Carolina, but law enforcement there will not extradite him.

Deputies tried to stop Gilstrap on Highway 82.

Investigators said he refused to stop.

The pursuit went into Oktibbeha County and back into Lowndes County.

The chase, which reached speeds over 100 miles per hour, eventually ended at the Love’s Truck Stop in West Point.

A woman and 11-year-old child inside the car were not charged or harmed.
