More Summer Honors for Diamond Dogs

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI/MSU Athletics) — Four Mississippi State baseball players have picked up postseason honors for their competition in 2012 summer collegiate league baseball.

Pitchers Will Cox (Amory, Miss.) and Chad Girodo (Hartselle, Ala.) were named to the California Collegiate League 2012 All-League Team. Both were second-team selections after helping pitch the San Luis Obispo Blues to a share of the league crown this summer. Cox posted a 4-2 record with a 2.56 earned run average while Girodo proved to be one of the league’s top relief pitchers, fashioning a remarkable 0.99 earned run average with a win and a save.

Outfielder/catcher Hunter Renfroe (Crystal Springs, Miss.), who hit .364 with the Bethesda (Md.) Big Train and set Cal Ripken College Baseball League marks with 19 home runs and 57 RBI, was named by Perfect Game as the top prospect in the Cal Ripken League.

Junior shortstop Adam Frazier (Bishop, Ga.) was listed among Team USA’s Top 20 Prospects after competing on the 2012 USA Baseball National Collegiate Team.
