MSU Police Department Unveils New Dispatch Center

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- The Mississippi State University Police Department unveiled their newly renovated dispatch center.

A project going on two years in the making, is finally complete.

Campus police Chief Vance Rice says they respond to around 3,000 calls everyday and the cramped space in the old facility wasn’t efficient for dispatchers.

The center has room for two dispatchers with the technology to do every part of their job, in one spot.

Chief Rice says they even have room for more growth in the new building.

“We have two dispatchers 75% of the time, but as we advance we’re going to end up having to have three dispatchers on duty a good part of the time and two as my minimum manning,” said Chief Rice.

The front desk also features a bullet proof window that the old one didn’t have.

Dispatchers will soon start using the new center.
