Ole Miss Announces 2016-17 SEC Men’s Basketball Schedule

OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI/Ole Miss Athletics) – Ole Miss finalized its 2016-17 schedule Tuesday, as the Southeastern Conference office announced the ‘16-17 league slate.

The Rebels will open conference play at The Pavilion at Ole Miss Dec. 29 when they welcome the Kentucky Wildcats to Oxford (ESPN2, 6 p.m.). This marks just the fifth time in the last 19 years Ole Miss will open SEC play at home and the third-straight season the Rebels will open conference action with the Wildcats.

Ole Miss will play five home-and-home games, four home games and four road games as part of the 18-game league schedule. The Rebels’ five home-and-home opponents this season are Auburn, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina and Tennessee with all 18 league games televised as part of the SEC’s TV contract with ESPN.

Following the SEC opener against UK, the Rebels hit the road for a two-game swing at Florida Jan. 3 (ESPNU, 6 p.m.) and at Auburn Jan. 7 (SEC Network, 5 p.m.). Ole Miss returns home Jan. 11 to host the Georgia Bulldogs (ESPNU, 6 p.m.) before heading to Columbia, South Carolina to face the Gamecocks Jan. 14 (ESPNU, 5:30 p.m.). A home game against Tennessee Jan 17. ( SEC Network, 8 p.m.) and a road game at Missouri Jan. 21 (SEC Network, 2:30 p.m.) follow before Ole Miss closes out the month with three-straight home contests against Texas A&M Jan. 25 (ESPN2, 6:30 p.m.), Baylor Jan. 28 (ESPN2, 5 p.m.) and Mississippi State Jan. 31 (SEC Network, 6 p.m.).

Ole Miss starts February with back-to-back road games at Vanderbilt Feb. 4 (ESPNU, 2 p.m.) and Tennessee Feb. 8 (SEC Network, 5:30 p.m.) before two-straight home contests against Auburn Feb. 11 (SEC Network, 5 p.m.) and LSU Feb. 14 (SEC Network, 8 p.m.). Road games at Arkansas Feb. 18 (SEC Network, 5 p.m.), at Mississippi State Feb. 21 (ESPN2, 8 p.m.) and at Alabama March 1 (SEC Network, 7:30 p.m.) are sandwiched around a home game versus Missouri Feb. 25 (SEC Network, 2:30 p.m.).

The Rebels close out the 2017 conference slate March 4 at home against South Carolina (SEC Network, 7:30 p.m.) before heading to Nashville, Tennessee for the SEC Tournament March 8-12.

Ole Miss opens the 2016-17 regular season in The Pavilion Nov. 11 against UT-Martin before hosting UMass Nov. 14 The Rebels then head to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands for the Paradise Jam Nov. 18-21. Ole Miss will face Oral Roberts in the opening round Nov. 18 and either Loyola or Saint Joseph’s Nov. 19. A possible matchup with either Creighton or N.C. State awaits the Rebels in the championship game Nov. 21.

The Rebels return home for three-straight games against Montana Nov. 24, Middle Tennessee Nov. 30 and Memphis Dec. 3 (ESPNU, 9 p.m.) before hitting the road again for a game at Virginia Tech Dec. 11.

Ole Miss returns to The Pavilion for three-straight home games against Murray State Dec. 15, Bradley Dec. 19 and South Alabama Dec. 22 before opening SEC play against Kentucky Dec. 29.
