Ole Miss Rallies to Defeat Southern Miss in Extra Innings

PEARL, Miss. (WCBI) — An extra inning rally gets the Rebels back on track.

Freshman Jason Barber was hit by a pitch and ended up scoring the winning run on a wild pitch that was intended to be an intentional walk as the Rebels walked off in the 12th inning by defeating Southern Miss, 6-5 in 12 innings.

The win snapped Ole Miss’ 3-game losing streak and moved their record to 17-12 overall. Southern Miss saw their 6-game winning streak snapped as they fell to 24-6 overall.

Ole Miss used a 3-run sixth to cut the deficit to one before a ninth inning passed ball scored Carson Klepsig to tied the game at 5 and force extras.

The Rebels will host Alabama in a 3-game set starting on Friday.
