One resident is thankful no one is hurt after apartment shooting

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – People living in a Starkville apartment complex were on edge Thursday after gunfire erupted outside Wednesday night.

It happened at the Chandler Park Apartments.

Two suspects are behind bars, and the search is on for one more after gunfire rang out last night. Residents are described what they heard.

“The shots were like boom boom boom,” said a resident of Chandler Park Apartment.

Several people we spoke with Thursday said they heard multiple shots go off. This woman who didn’t want to be identified said she just got home from work.

“I sat on the couch and popped a beer because I had just left the office complex. It was hot and I had came home and popped a dilly-dilly,” said the resident.

She said she heard about seven shots ring out.

“I look out the window and this guy running around with the gun just shooting back like this,” said the resident.

Starkville Police have three suspects.

Quantavious Lawrence, 23, and Demarcus Sligh, 26, are now in police custody.

Police are still looking for Dionte Doss, 30, of Starkville.

No-one was injured in the shooting but one of the bullets hit a car.

“We got up this morning and my neighbor’s car was hit. It had a bullet hole in it,” said the resident.

A bullet that could’ve taken her daughter’s life.

“I’m thankful to God because if her car wasn’t sitting there the bullet would’ve hit my daughter in the head because she was sitting in her mustang next to the car,”said the resident.

“That’s my only child. It’s a miracle nobody got hurt,” said the resident.

Starkville Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
