Video: Police Department Construction Nears
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — The city of Starkville is getting closer to renovating a building for its police department.
The lowest bid on the project came in at $4,478,000.
Mayor Parker Wiseman says the maximum was $4.6 million.
He says they should be able to work with the lowest bid, even after having to make some cuts.
“We feel like this project still accomplishes everything that we sought to accomplish in the beginning,” Wiseman said. “We would surely like to have the security wall, and the sally port and the youth court space renovated, but at this time on the budget that we have, those are items that we will be willing to part with.”
Wiseman says he anticipates aldermen will approve the low bid at their next meeting.
He hopes construction will start as early as next month, and finish by late spring or early summer.
