Rebels & Bulldogs Trade Softball Shutouts

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — The tale of two shutouts in Starkville for SEC rivalry softball.

At the end of the day, #16 Ole Miss and Mississippi State head to Saturday in a tied series, but the results of each game in the doubleheader were complete opposites.

In game one, the Rebels handed Mississippi State not only its biggest loss in the rivalry, but the Bulldogs worst loss in program history, 21-0.

Ole Miss scoring 21 runs on 17 hits. Jessica Puk and Amanda Roth combining for 10 RBI in the win.

In game two, Mississippi State showed off its resiliency.

Jumping out to a lead early thanks to four runs in the second inning, Bulldogs pitching held Ole Miss to four scoreless runs, blanking the Rebels, 6-0.

The rubber match is set for 1 PM CT in Starkville, Saturday.
