Remembering A Hero

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – People from across Northeast Mississippi spent the morning remembering a local hero.

Residents gathered today, December 13, at The Orchard United Methodist Church to honor the life work of Chief Flight nurse Jim Spruiell.

Spruiell passed away November 19th after the medical helicopter he was in crashed in rural Arkansas.

Colleagues and friends alternated; shared memories, photos and words of encouragement to the Spruiell Family.

Pafford Clinical Services Director Stephen Sutton says Jim is someone who has left and impression on everyone.

“Jim Was just a fantastic guy. His compassion is unparalleled, his integrity is stellar, Service he put others before himself. He really autographed his work with excellence. He was a tremendous Flight nurse in our program and his absents will truly be missed,” says Sutton.

A memorial scholarship has been established in Jim’s name.
