Saltillo Woman Prison Bound For Embezzling From Dementia Patient

TUPELO (WCBI) – A Saltillo woman will spend 5 years in prison for stealing more than $160,000 from an elderly patient she was hired to care for.

66 year old Dorothy Whaley was convicted of embezzling $162,000 from the checking and savings accounts of a woman with dementia.  Whaley has to  make full restitution plus cover costs of the investigation.    She had also made the victim sign over two pieces of property in the scheme but has already returned that land to the family.    Her daughter April Whaley has also pleaded guilty  in the case and admitted taking $33,000. April Whaley is currently serving a one year prison term.
