Soccer tournament expects to bring thousands to Friendly City

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- An exciting weekend is on tap in Columbus as the city hosts one of the states largest soccer tournaments.

100 teams from Mississippi will compete in the Admiral Cup Soccer Tournament at the Columbus Soccer Complex.

Thousands are expected to be in the Friendly City for the weekend.

The Columbus-Lowndes Convention Visitors Bureau estimates an economic impact of nearly $1.5 million.

The soccer tournament runs April 27th through 29th.

The city’s also hosting the USTA Senior Tennis Tournament this weekend.

CVB Executive Director Nancy Carpenter says every hotel room is sold out.
