Standoff underway in Marshall County, deputy injured after being shot

MARSHALL COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- A Marshall County deputy has been shot at least three times, authorities confirmed Friday night. This is according to our Memphis CBS affiliate WREG.

The sheriff and investigators were headed to the scene on Hunters Run off Cayce Road around 7 p.m.

According to Sheriff Kenny Dickerson, earlier Friday  evening, a deputy confronted a suspect as part of a narcotics investigation. That suspect led the deputy on a high-speed chase that ended at a home on Hunters Run.

That’s where the suspect got out of the car and shot the deputy several times, Dickerson said.

The suspect then barricaded himself inside that home, where other deputies are currently trying to get him out.

Deputies have cut power to the house. A SWAT vehicle can be seen outside the home, and deputies were on a loudspeaker trying to convince the suspect to talk with them.

Around 9:30, the suspect began saying he was ready to surrender.

The deputy who got shot was taken by helicopter to Regional One in Memphis. His condition is unclear.
