Starkville women’s clinics, OCH partner to create chemo kits for patients

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Starkville community is being given the opportunity to help the fight.

OCH, the Center for Breast Health and Imaging, and the Starkville Clinic for Women are partnering together to create chemo kits for those fighting breast cancer.

The kits consist of items like chapstick, sunscreen, snacks, journals, and more. They will be taking donations of these items and specifically curating the kit for each patient.

Nurse Practitioner Dana Brooks and OCH Director of Marketing and Public Relations said the goal is to help make the patient’s fight a little easier and happier.

“We are hoping that these chemo kits will help our patients walk through this process easier by giving them things that make each little challenge a little bit easier and brighten their day,” said Brooks.

“Those women who are going through cancer, who have gone through cancer or will go through cancer, it is a pivotal time in their lives. We want them to know that they are supported, that they have places to go in this community that can help them when or if that time arises,” said Gines.

Donations can continue to be given throughout October at OCH, the Center for Breast Health and Imaging, and the Starkville Clinic for Women.
