Starkville’s Annual Touch A Truck Event
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Kids could touch a truck in Starkville Saturday but not just any truck.
Touch-A-Truck is a family fun event offering hands-on opportunities for kids to explore, climb and touch emergency response vehicles, heavy machinery and other equipment.
Starkville’s annual Touch-A-Truck serves as a fundraiser. The money raised today benefits Volunteer Starkville.
Board member Kathleen Burnett says Touch-A-Truck is a fun way for small kids to meet the people who build protect and serve the Starkville community.
“Kids just love being close to the truck they love to see all the working of the truck and get inside it and really just interact with the people who drive the truck and the trucks themselves,” said Burnett.
“Volunteer Starkville works with us to help us recruit people. They help us on several times a year cleaning equipment and vehicles. So anytime we can give back we try to help. plus its good to meet the public when we are not in an emergency situation let them see what they’re taxes are paying for and see and meet the people who help them,” said Starkville Fire Fighter Austin Check.
Last year’s Touch-A-Truck raised more than $4,000 for Volunteer Starkville.
