State Supreme Court Chief Justice speaks at Columbus Rotary
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – State Supreme Court Chief Justice, William Waller was today’s guest speaker at today’s Columbus Rotary Club meeting.
One of Waller’s main speech points focused on the state’s drug court program and the good work District 16 has done with it.
Because of the program, fewer people are being sent to jail for drug charges and turned into productive members of society.
“The 769 graduates that we have would be much less likely of recidivating because they’ve had treatment, they’ve been productive member of society and monitored closely, and it just works, so the drug court is a great innovation in our justice system and we’re glad to be a part of it,” says Waller.
For a program doing work in preventing our area and our state’s recidivism rates with drug charges, the best part is the drug court program comes at no taxpayer expense.
