Suspect named in Cracker Barrel shooting

COLUMBUS (WCBI) – It was peaceful evening that turned violent in the Friendly City after a shooting inside Cracker Barrel Friday afternoon.

Columbus Police say Robert Beck of Columbus is the suspect involved in the shooting, a warrant for Aggravated Assault has now been issued for his arrest.

It was 4:30 p.m. when police say a man went inside Cracker Barrel looking for someone he knew that worked at the restaurant.

According to police, an altercation started between the two and that’s when employees stepped in.

Investigators say a gunman opened fire inside the restaurant hitting who they say is a member of the Cracker Barrel management team.

The victim was shot multiple times in the chest and hand.

He was was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle where he’s listed in stable condition.

The police are now focusing their search on a 2001 Blue Toyota car with Lowndes County tag: LVQ-512.

They believe that’s the car Beck used to flee the scene. He is believed to be wearing blue jeans and a black and white plaid shirt.
