Suspected stabber captured in Chickasaw County, victim recovering

HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) – A man accused of stabbing someone in Houston, has been captured after almost a full day on-the-run.

Sammy Wofford was arrested Tuesday afternoon at his mother’s house. He reportedly stabbed someone at a residence on Talitha Street.

An investigator with the Houston Police Department said the incident happened around 9:40 A.M. Tuesday.

When officers arrived the victim said he had been stabbed by Wofford.

According to the suspect, Zacchaeus Davidson, this entire incident stemmed from Wofford stealing his car.

Davidson said Wofford returned the car not too long afterwards.

However, after the car was brought back, Davidson told Wofford he was going to press charges for stealing his vehicle.

Davidson said that’s when things took a turn for the worse.

“This morning when I got up it was around 6 or 6:30, maybe even seven,” Davidson recalled. “I woke up. I knew it had to be him because that’s the last person in my house that closed the door. Around 9:15 or 9:30 he came back in my car, we got into an altercation. We went in the house, and he was telling me that I told him that he could use my car, so I started cursing and arguing with him telling him I didn’t tell him he could use my car. When I finally told him that I was going to press charges on him, he played like he was going to walk away, and then when I turned around to go into the house he came back up and stabbed me, which I didn’t think was a stab at first I thought it was a punch until I felt the blood dripping down my back.”

Wofford faces an Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon charge.

After being stabbed once in the back, Davidson was rushed to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

He was able to make a successful recovery
