The Columbus First and Rescue has a new rescue tool.

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- The Columbus Fire and Rescue is showing off their new rescue tool. Check out this new souped-up ride.

It’s a 2019 Polaris Ranger Super Sport rescue ATV.

The fire department was able to get the vehicle thanks to a grant from the Department of Homeland Security that was just over 16-grand.

Fire crews say this tool will be very beneficial when it comes to search and rescue efforts.

“Especially during over land rescue, missing persons, just makes it more mobile when we go off road and search for people out in the woods,” said Marco Rodriquez.

“Columbus Fire and Rescue is doing an outstanding job in the eye of home and security, and so we are just proud to have Chief Andrew’s and his men and the Class 3 rating fire department,” said Mayor Robert Smith.

Chief Andrews says this is an example of their continuing efforts in providing superior protection for the Friendly City.
