Third arrest made in drive-by shooting of two young boys

WINSTON COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Winston County deputies have made a third arrest in the drive-by shooting of two boys.

Lakelvin Hughes, 19, is in custody.

Investigators said Hughes was out on early release from a previous conviction.

His probation was revoked and Hughes was sent to the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County.

Deputies told WCBI once he is released they will announce the formal charges pending against Hughes.

The shooting happened this past Thursday at the intersection of Goss Road and Minnie Miller Road.

A 12-year-old and 13-year-old were both shot outside of a home.

Winston County Sheriff Jason Pugh said within minutes of the drive-by shooting, deputies were able to pull-over a white SUV and make two arrests.

Brothers Joe and Justin White were both charged with two counts of aggravated assault, drive-by-shooting, and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
