Expensive damage at MSU’s South Farm after weekend tornado

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – MSU’s South Farm has more than $300,000 in damage from this past weekend’s tornado.

A barn and storage facility were destroyed.

Chief Communications Officer Sid Salter said about 200 foot of fencing was knocked down by the high winds.

No people or livestock were injured when the EF-1 twister tore up this remote area of campus.

There were also some downed trees.

Salter says the university has drilled on the exact scenario that happened Saturday… A nighttime tornado on Super Bulldog Weekend.

He believed MSU’s Maroon Alert system did a great job of alerting people on campus.
