Tishomingo man charged with murder of his wife

TISHOMINGO COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Tishomingo County man was arrested on murder charges Wednesday after the June 2017 disappearance of his wife.

Russell Lanier is charged with 1st Degree Murder in the death of his wife Susie Lanier.

Susie Lanier was reported missing on June 7, 2017. On August 31, 2017 the Tishomingo Sheriff’s Office received a call of a man finding what appeared to be a human skull on his property.

Dental records were able to identify the skull as Susie Lanier’s.

Another search was conducted around the area where the skull was found with cadaver dogs. Only clothes believed to be worn by Susie Lanier were found.

On Christmas Eve Tishomingo Sheriff’s Office received new information about Susie Lanier’s case.

Russell Lanier was officially charged with the death of Susie Lanier Wednesday.

He is still in custody on a $500,000 bond.
