Top MS WBB Recruit Alexander Signs With Rebels

OXFORD, Miss. (Ole Miss Athletics) – Ole Miss women’s basketball head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin has announced the addition of Jayla Alexander to her 2019-2020 signing class on Wednesday.

Alexander, a 5-9 point guard from Pearl, Mississippi, that was ranked as the top player in the state by MaxPreps, averaged 19.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 5.5 steals per game during her senior year at Pearl High School. Alexander led the Pirates to a 32 -1 overall record and a 6A state title in 2019. During her career at Pearl, Alexander was part of four Final Four teams during her four varsity seasons, accumulating a career record of 106-21.

“Rebel Nation should not only be excited, but it should be proud that we were able to keep one of our state’s best at home,” McPhee-McCuin said. “Jayla will impact us immediately both on and off the court, as she will play both the one and two positions. What I like most about her is that she is a competitor and a winner. Our program just got better today!”

Alexander was a three-time All-State player and was the MVP of the 6A state championship game this past year. She was also just named to the USA Today All-USA Mississippi Girls Baksetball Team as a First-Team member.
