Trump holds press conference with Australian prime minister

President Trump will take questions alongside Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull Friday afternoon, in his first official press conference since before the Parkland shooting last week.

In most press conferences with foreign leaders, two questions are given to the American press, and two are given to the foreign press. The bilateral press conference comes after Mr. Trump met with Turnbull, calling their relationship “terrific.”

Reporters have a range of pressing questions for the president, as former Trump campaign aide Rick Gates is expected to plead guilty in federal court over charges filed by special counsel Robert Mueller, and as Mr. Trump has proposed arming teachers and improving background checks in the wake of the Parkland, Florida, high school shooting that left 17 people dead last week. The press conference Friday comes after Mr. Trump went off-script to speak for an hour and 13 minutes to conservative activists at the Conservative Political Action Conference just outside Washington, D.C., earlier Friday.
