Trump meets with new FIFA president Gianni Infantino — live stream

President Trump is welcoming FIFA’s newest president Gianni Infantino to the White House on Tuesday. Infantino replaced former FIFA president Sepp Blatter who was ousted after more than 17 years as president of the soccer body amid rampant bribery and corruption investigations.

The visit comes after North America was selected to host the next 2026 World Cup. The United States, Canada and Mexico will jointly hold the next games. In their deciding votes, FIFA body members cited the financial and logistical certainty of the North America bid with 134 votes of support.

The international event will now return to the U.S. for the first time since 1994. President Trump hailed the successful bid, claiming he “worked hard on this along with a great team of talented people.”

“We never fail, and it will be a great World CUP!” he added, noting he received some advice from Patriots head coach and Trump supporter Bob Kraft.
