Tupelo GOP Delegate

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)-

A Tupelo dentist is in Cleveland getting ready to assume his duties as a delegate to the Republican National Convention.

Dr. Ed Holliday wrapped things up at his Tupelo dentist office on Thursday, and on Friday flew to Cleveland for the the Republican National Convention. Holliday is a tea party activist and former Congressional candidate who has never been a GOP convention before.

“To take a week out of my practice and closing the doors for a week is not something that I contemplated to do this summer and not something I like to do at one time but I am going ahead and doing it because it is important to me to be in Cleveland and be a part of nominating Donald Trump to be the nominee of the party. But more importantly is bringing the Republicans together to get behind a platform that is a strong conservative platform.” said Holliday.

Holliday says getting selected as a delegate is a process.
“I went to a precinct caucus then a Lee County caucus and then the state Republican convention and there I was elected to be delegate so it is very humbling to know that there is so many Republicans who put trust in you to go represent them well. And I believe Mississippi will be very well represented in Cleveland for the Republican National Convention. And I’m really looking forward to going I’m excited about being a part of history.” said Holliday.

Holliday like the rest of the Mississippi delegation will be staying at the Hilton in downtown Cleveland. The Wisconsin delegation will also be there and Holliday says one of the first things the Mississippi delegation will do is meet with Wisconsin native and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus.

Holliday says it is going to be a week he never forgets.
