Tupelo Man Accused of Stealing Car

AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) — The man accused of stealing a car in downtown Amory is in jail.

43-year-old George Tucker of Tupelo is charged with grand larceny.

The department of corrections has also put a hold on him for a probation violation.

Investigators say Tucker was arrested on Old Columbus Road, after crashing about seven miles away on Delk Drive.

There is surveillance video from a store in Lackey where Tucker apparently stopped.

Police say he was dropped off in downtown, possibly under the influence of narcotics.

Using a cell phone inside the stolen car, law enforcement were able to find a general area of where the car had been.

Monroe deputies and Amory officers were able to identify him and eventually arrest him.

Bond has not been set for Tucker.
