Tupelo organization hosts Father’s Day baby shower
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The Tupelo community took the initiative to celebrate Father’s Day with a resourceful baby shower.
The Northeast Mississippi Healthy Start Consortium hosted a baby shower for all fathers.
The event took place at the Parkhill Dynasty building and received partnership from other programs like the Mississippi Department of Health.
There were several tables available for dads to care for their children, and other resources were donated.
Some of those resources were car seats, strollers, baby clothes, and several other items.
Event coordinator Ray Shoemaker said it’s their initiative to help local families in need.
“We are all about community, we are about service, we are about reaching families, children, and spouses,” Shoemaker said. “Whether that’s a male or female, we just want to make a difference in our communities, and it’s about the community. We told the fathers today that it is about you, and that is what we strive to do is take care of our community.”
“Interesting that fathers, we are typically left out,” Shoemaker said. “In many cases, fathers feel alone. We thought that this weekend, Father’s Day weekend, along with all the fathers that are expecting and even some seasoned fathers, to let them know that they are not alone and we are here to provide resources for them.”
The Northeast Mississippi Healthy Start Consortium said it appreciates the collaboration shown by the vendors.
