Two arrests made after a shooting in Starkville

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Two people are being charged with attempted murder after a shooting in Starkville.

One person has been shot, and two people have been taken into custody after a shooting Saturday night on Maxwell Street in Starkville.

According to Cpl. Brandon Lovelady with the Starkville Police Department, officer responded Saturday night to Maxwell Drive near Lummus Drive for a shots-fired call.

One person had been shot and was airlifted for treatment.

19-year old, Juantel Hughes and 21-year-old Jordyn Barrett have been both arrested and charged with attempted murder. Lovelady says the two people knew each other before the incident happened.

They are being held at the Oktibbeha County Jail.
