Union County Man Accused Of Shooting Step-Father, With Son In Car

UNION COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Union County man is accused of shooting into a car and killing his step-father, while his nine year-old son sat in the backseat.

Larry Walker, 27, is charged with First Degree Murder, Child Endangerment, and Felon in Possession of a Weapon.

Sheriff Jimmy Edwards says the shooting happened Saturday afternoon, March 17, on County Road 92 in Ingomar.

The victim, Leon Lewis, 53, was shot multiple times while his son was inside the vehicle.

Lewis was taken to The Med in Memphis and later died.

Walker was arrested at the scene after being identified by witnesses.

Edwards believes an argument over a car led to the shooting.

Walker’s girlfriend, Nicole Lynn Vanvranken, 28, was also arrested.

She’s charged with Accessory after the Fact, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and possession of marijuana.

The sheriff says the gun was stolen out of Memphis.

Walker’s bond was set at one point $25 Million.

Vanvranken’s bond is $36,000.
