UPDATE: After A Carbon Monoxide Leak, MUW Students Return To Their Dorm
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Resident students at the Mississippi University for Women get the all clear and some new safety equipment.
Kincannon Hall reopened for residents Thursday afternoon.
Columbus Fire Rescue and MUW staff have been monitoring the air quality in the dorm since Tuesday, and have concluded that there are now, zero levels of carbon monoxide.
Boilers across campus have been inspected and assessed and carbon monoxide detectors are now in every residence hall on campus.
A review of the carbon monoxide leak incident has found that there was a breakdown in the university’s emergency response communications.
School officials are looking at ways to improve that system.
